Talend Unveils Bulk Data Uploader to Enable Large-Scale, Real-Time Analytics on Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse

Organizations Can Now Give Employees Access to Analytics in the Cloud at Low-cost without the Need for Source System Migration Redwood City, CA - August 16, 2018 - Talend, a global leader in cloud integration solutions, unveiled a new bulk data uploader for Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse, which helps empower thousands of users across an organization with a fast, flexible and secure cloud data warehouse. Available in its recently announced Talend Cloud Summer ’18, the connector helps rapidly ingest massive data volumes to Azure SQL Data Warehouse, so customers can reap the performance and scalability benefits of the cloud without needing to move source systems. Talend also supports Azure SQL Data Warehouse orchestration and management. “Data warehousing is really about bringing massive amounts of diverse data into one definitive, trusted source for analytics and reporting that is accessible across an organization. In this increasingly cloud-centric, on-demand world, businesses are expecting to perform fast, large-scale analytics at a fraction of the cost and resources required by traditional data warehouses,” said Rob Cornell, Head of Technology Alliances, Talend. “We’re pleased to continue our support of Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse with our new connector that helps customers accelerate and scale the ingestion, management, orchestration, and governance of data in the cloud, making real-time business analytics a reality.” Forrester Research indicates the market for big data services in the cloud will grow by almost 40 percent annually through 2021. Additionally, a recent Forrester survey found organizations that moved to Azure SQL Data Warehouse saw significant increases in performance, with streamlined data warehouse management, while lowering their costs. Azure SQL Data Warehouse is a cloud analytics platform that separates storage and compute to give unique flexibility in deploying a solution for a user’s specific business requirements. This also allows users to stop and start job execution while keeping data storage persistent. As a result, the solution ensures customers pay only for compute time and resources used. The recently released Compute Optimized Gen2 tier also adds a layer of intelligent, adaptive data caching using fast, non-volatile SSDs, which increases query performance up to five times compared to the previous generation, with up to four times the number of concurrent queries. Add to that mix the new Talend Data Fabric bulk data uploader, and customers get a scalable solution for performing high-speed analytics on current data without the cloud migration headache. At its recent Build conference, Microsoft demonstrated the Compute Optimized Gen2 tier’s ability to run complex queries on 150 billion rows of data—reflecting 70 years of U.S. water supply, demand and weather information—with results achieved in seconds. Talend’s new bulk data uploader for the Microsoft Azure SQL Data warehouse Gen2 helps organizations: Load data into an Azure SQL Data Warehouse table from either Azure Blob Storage or Azure Data Lake Store Commit a global transaction in one go rather than on every row or every batch; therefore, providing gains in performance Cancel the committed transaction in the Azure SQL Data Warehouse to prevent partial transactions if an error occurs Execute SQL queries on an Azure SQL Data Warehouse “With its comprehensive data integration and management capabilities, plus its robust support for Azure data services, Talend is an essential Microsoft partner,” said Bharat Sandhu, Director, Analytics & AI, Microsoft. “The impressive performance and compelling economics of combining our Azure SQL Data Warehouse with Talend’s fast data uploader, represents a powerful solution for any organization looking to leverage the power of the cloud to perform business analytics at scale.” For more information on Talend’s new bulk data uploader and how it works with Microsoft’s Azure SQL Data Warehouse visit https://bit.ly/2nIbYki. Talend Named a Leader in 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools

Third Consecutive Placement in Leaders Quadrant based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute Redwood City, CA - July 24, 2018 - Talend, a leader in cloud integration solutions, today announced it has once again been recognized by Gartner, Inc. as a Leader in data integration as described in the 2018 “Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools.”  This is Talend’s third placement in the Leaders quadrant, acknowledging the company’s completeness of vision and ability to execute. For a complimentary copy of Gartner’s complete report click here. According to Gartner, Inc., “Leaders in the data integration tools market are front-runners in the capability to support a full range of data delivery styles. In 2018, they have advanced their metadata capabilities, with some introducing highly dynamic optimization and advanced design assistance functions. Leaders have recognized the growing affinity between data and application integration. They are approaching location-agnostic deployments in a halting manner. Providers or solutions not limited to only cloud or only on-premises that can be deployed beyond a specific location are gaining traction (that is, on devices, as agents/daemons on sensors, in the IoT and more). Leaders are strong in establishing their data integration infrastructure as an enterprise standard in at least one primary use case, with the capabilities to deliver in multiple use cases. They become a critical component of modern information infrastructure. They support both traditional and new data integration patterns in order to capitalize on market demand. Leaders have significant mind share in the market, and resources skilled in their tools are readily available. These vendors recognize the need for new and emerging market demands — often providing new functional capabilities in their products ahead of demand, and by identifying new types of business problem to which data integration tools can bring significant value. Examples of deployments that span multiple projects and types of use case are common among Leaders' customers. Leaders have an established market presence, significant size and a multinational presence — either directly or through a parent company.” [1] “We’re proud to offer the only open source-based, unified platform that is purpose-built for modern cloud and big data use cases,” said Mike Tuchen, CEO, Talend. “Talend is uniquely positioned to help companies embrace new market innovations and government regulations in order to turn data into a competitive strength. We believe that our consecutive position as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant reinforces our technical strength and go-to-market strategy.” Talend delivers a single platform for data integration across public, hybrid, and private cloud, as well as on-premises environments, and facilitates greater collaboration between IT and business teams. Talend delivers comprehensive support for all major cloud platforms including AWS, Google, and Microsoft Azure. Additionally, Talend is architected to enable organizations to take advantage of the very latest data and cloud technologies, including Apache Spark, Hadoop, Flink and Apache Beam to connect and process data at speed and scale from a wide range of sources. Talend Helps Office Depot Europe Deliver Trusted Data

The Office Supplies and Office Services Provider Uses Talend Cloud to Power Better Analytics and Drive its Multi-Channel Customer Engagement Strategy Redwood City, CA - June 19, 2018 - Talend, a global leader in cloud data integration solutions, today announced Office Depot Europe, a business supplies and services provider, is using Talend Cloud to ingest data from its vast collection of operational systems, displacing siloed information repositories with a centralized enterprise data hub. Talend Data Integration and Data Quality capabilities enable Office Depot to improve e-commerce efficiency, while providing a better customer experience using predictive analytics in a more cost-effective and agile way. Office Depot Europe sells everything from paper, pens and flip charts, to office furniture and computers, to customers located in 14 countries throughout Europe. Traditionally, Office Depot’s European sales were primarily sourced through an offline, mail-order catalog model driven mainly by telemarketing activities. The company has since moved to a hybrid retail model, combining offline and online shopping, which required a data consolidation strategy that optimized the different channels and created a 360-degree customer view. Additionally, the company’s myriad backend systems and disparate supply chain data collected from across Europe had become difficult to analyze. Using Talend Cloud, Office Depot gained greater confidence in the quality of its enterprise data, enabling faster responses to rapidly changing market dynamics. “Talend helped us become a capability-led organization rather than application-led, allowing our team to use data to measure customer needs and competitive threats, which improves our business agility,” said Matt Steell, director of Information & Architecture at Office Depot. “With Talend we can ensure qualified, accurate information is delivered at the right time, empowering everyone from senior managers to business analysts to make better business decisions.” In migrating its solutions to Talend, Office Depot is also reducing instances of “shadow IT” by enabling business users to consume data as needed—without involving IT—and be self-sufficient. Using Talend’s persona-based cloud applications, such as Talend Data Preparation, IT can allow business users to be more directly involved in data quality and stewardship activities to ensure data is trusted. “Office Depot Europe is running a digital transformation project to improve internal processes and gain a competitive advantage,” said Ciaran Dynes, SVP of Products, Talend. “We are proud to help Office Depot Europe turn data into a trusted asset to respond more efficiently to market trends.” For more information about how Talend is helping Office Depot create an enterprise-wide view of customers, operations or finances to improve business results, check out this case study.
