Talend to Acquire Stitch, a Leader in Self-Service Cloud Data Integration

Adds New Offering for New Cloud Data Warehouse Users and a Frictionless Sales Channel Redwood City, CA - November 7, 2018 - In a move designed to accelerate its cloud momentum, Talend today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Stitch, a leader in the fast-growing, self-service data integration market. Stitch offers an easy-to-use service for moving data from popular sources to leading cloud data warehouse platforms. The acquisition gives Talend both a strong solution for the cloud data warehouse market and a frictionless sales motion to land new cloud customers efficiently. “Stitch is a great addition that gives us a compelling offering in the market for simple, self-service integration for cloud data warehouses,” said Mike Tuchen, CEO, Talend. “In addition, we believe Stitch will work as an efficient high-volume way to acquire new cloud customers to whom we can market our advanced cloud solutions for data integration, transformation, cleaning, preparing and cataloging.” As companies standardize on using the cloud for analytics, users increasingly need to load cloud data warehouses and data lakes quickly. Most departments and small businesses lack the bandwidth and sometimes the skill set to use existing solutions, causing delays that lead to missed opportunities and poor customer experiences. Stitch, which will be rebranded as Stitch Data Loader, overcomes this set of challenges by enabling a broader population of users, including data scientists, data and business analysts, and engineers, to load data without relying on data integration specialists. “Talend is an ideal fit for Stitch. Their products complement ours, and they share a similar culture and market vision,” said Jake Stein, co-founder and CEO, Stitch. “The move to the cloud and data-driven business is changing the integration market, bringing new users with different needs. With the combination of Talend and Stitch, we believe we become the only vendor that can serve all levels of the market and all users of cloud analytics.” According to the Gartner Group, the increase in new roles such as data scientist, data engineer, data steward, and others that need access to data is expanding dramatically. In fact, Gartner Group predicts that “By 2020, the number of data and analytics experts in business units will grow at three times the rate of experts in IT departments, which will force companies to rethink their organizational models and skill sets.”[1] In addition to enhancing Talend’s product portfolio, the acquisition is expected to help strengthen Talend’s value proposition for cloud ecosystem partners including data warehouse partners such as AWS, Azure, Google, and Snowflake. “Snowflake is pleased that two of our partners are joining forces,” Snowflake CEO, Bob Muglia said. “The combination of Talend and Stitch will provide Snowflake customers with some of the broadest data integration capabilities and help them move their workloads to Snowflake with confidence.” Upon closing, Jake Stein will become SVP of the Stitch business unit reporting directly to Talend, CEO, Mike Tuchen. To learn more about Stitch or try the service for free, visit Stitch. Under the terms of the agreement, Talend will acquire Stitch for approximately $60 million in cash, subject to certain transaction adjustments. The transaction is expected to close later in the fourth quarter subject to customary closing conditions. Like this story? Talend Fall ’18 Enables Enterprises to Deliver Insight-Ready Data at Scale

Major integration platform update adds advanced catalog and API development capabilities and dramatically accelerates machine learning at scale Redwood City, CA and London - October 16, 2018 - Talend, a global leader in cloud data integration solutions, today announced a major update to Talend Data Fabric, the company’s unified data platform for data integration across complex, multi-cloud and on-premises environments. Announced at Talend Connect UK, Talend’s Fall 2018 release delivers insight-ready data at scale with new features including Data Catalog, which creates a single source of trusted data, and Cloud Application Programming Interface (API) Services, which speeds access to standardized data for building data-as-a-service applications and increasing productivity. Talend’s new release also accelerates running machine learning algorithms at scale with extended serverless big data support. “Data is at the heart of digital transformation, yet the promise of data remains elusive for many companies,” said Ciaran Dynes, SVP of Products, Talend. “For businesses to survive and succeed in this ever-evolving, expanding and complex data landscape, there is a need to optimally automate every step of the data value chain and enable self-service for more data consumers. With this release, Talend helps enterprises dramatically improve how they can organize, process, and share data, which in turn enables organizations to collaborate and innovate on insight-ready data at scale.” “As part of our cloud-first strategy, Talend has enabled us to create a governed data lake with self-service access for business units and clients in an effort to monetize new services and generate additional revenues,” said Abderrahmane Belarfaoui, CDO, Euronext. “We compete in a highly regulated industry and face many requirements that push the processing, agility and cost of IT platforms. Using Talend, we have the confidence that our data is compliant, organized and highly sharable, with the efficiency and speed we require in order to stay ahead of the competition.”   As part of the new Talend Data Fabric, Talend adds an API delivery platform enabling data-driven businesses to simplify data access. Talend Cloud API Services provides full API development lifecycle support from API design to test and deployment, enabling significant time savings in building and maintaining APIs. This API foundation serves as a standard and scalable way for companies to make data available to more users inside and outside an organization and to create new products and services that can drive new business models, revenue and profitability. “In this new era of digital transformation, nearly every organizational role is using data daily to inform decisions and actions,” said Stewart Bond, Research Director, Data Integration and Data Integrity Software, IDC. “Data cataloging software is experiencing a higher than market growth rate because it is filling a gap in the intelligence required to help organizations discover data and derive better insights to inform decisions and drive actions.” To organize data at scale, Talend adds new Data Catalog capabilities that enable a single source of trusted data. The Data Catalog automatically crawls all data, whether it is in a data lake, on-premises or in the cloud; profiles and classifies all the data; automatically finds and suggests relationships between data, and provides easy search-based access so end users can leverage trusted data when they need it to make immediate business decisions. The Fall 2018 Talend Data Fabric also accelerates running machine learning models at scale with native, extended serverless big data support for Microsoft Azure Databricks as well as Qubole in AWS cloud environments. Talend’s self-service Apache Spark processing makes it easy to spin up a cluster and control costs by just paying for what is used through serverless and spot instances. The new capabilities help to automate insight and enables businesses to process more data at lower costs. The comprehensive Talend Data Fabric delivers a unified platform for data integration across public, private, and hybrid cloud, as well as on-premises environments, and facilitates greater collaboration between IT and business teams. Combined with an open, native and extensible architecture for rapidly embracing market innovations, Talend enables customers to cost-effectively meet the demands of ever-increasing data volumes, users and use cases. The Fall 2018 update to the Talend Data Fabric will be available in November for free to customers with up-to-date paid subscriptions. Talend Supports La Mutuelle Générale to Power its AWS Cloud Data Lake

Health Insurance Company Accelerates the Implementation of New Services and Strengthen Business Applications Redwood City, Calif. & Suresnes, France - September 18, 2018 - Talend, a global leader in cloud data integration solutions, today announced that La Mutuelle Générale, a leading provider of insurance solutions for businesses and individuals, has chosen Talend Cloud Platform to support the company in their project to build an Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based cloud data lake to serve as the foundation of all their data initiatives. With Talend, La Mutuelle Générale provides self-service data access for its data scientists to improve customer relations and offer innovative services. "As is the case in many industries, the insurance sector is in the midst of a transformation from a technical to a service industry. As part of our global business approach, we place digitalization, data and innovation at the heart of our strategy and customer satisfaction," said Yan Truong, BI, Big Data and Data Engineering Manager at La Mutuelle Générale. "Mastering, exploiting and making data usable quickly is critical. In order to serve business needs as closely as possible, we therefore chose to equip ourselves with a cloud data lake, and to rely on the Talend Cloud platform which operates throughout the data value chain, from its integration to its preparation by business users.” At La Mutuelle Générale, the data initiatives began with the desire to facilitate the work of data scientists and enable them to operate a trustworthy self-service database, without the need to solicit IT teams. La Mutuelle Générale therefore initiated the cloud data lake project in September 2017, wishing to take advantage of the data processing for the benefit of its customers and its development. By accelerating innovation cycles while retaining the full potential of the original data integrity, the cloud data lake is intended to be the foundation for all its data initiatives, whether for improving customer relationships or creating new services. With Talend Cloud, La Mutuelle Générale benefits from a data preparation and integration platform that is compatible and complementary with AWS' technological ecosystem, while producing code that can be reused in its own development. By reducing hand coding, La Mutuelle Générale is thus able to concentrate on its data engineering mission without worrying about the management of complex infrastructures required for big data approaches. Beyond implementing a cloud data lake, La Mutuelle Générale gains agility with Talend by quickly delivering prototype use cases across the platform, enabling business teams to be included right from the data preparation phase with Talend Data Preparation, and subsequently automating data integration jobs with a few clicks via Talend Data Integration. "La Mutuelle Générale is developing an ambitious project based on data with the aim of creating new uses cases," said Jacques Padioleau, VP Sales France, Talend. "We are proud to support them in the development of these new practices aimed at putting data at the heart of their strategy, and thus being able to provide new innovative services to their customers.” From now on, data scientists and business analysts have access to the cloud data lake and its rich data to support business teams in their decision-making and the implementation of innovative services for their customers. This democratization of data among the company's various businesses also enabled La Mutuelle Générale to be rewarded with the Big Data 2018 Innovation Trophy in the B2C category for their project to optimize incoming mail management, through a form of artificial intelligence (machine learning). The Majority of Businesses Surveyed are Failing to Comply with GDPR, According to New Talend Research

70% of companies surveyed couldn’t fulfill data access and portability requests within the GDPR-specified one-month time limit Redwood City, CA - September 13, 2018 - Some 70% of surveyed businesses worldwide failed to address requests made from individuals seeking to obtain a copy of their personal data as required by GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) within the one-month time limit set out in the regulations, reveals new research from Talend, a global leader in cloud data integration solutions. The research is based on personal data requests made to 103 companies based or operating in Europe across industries including retail, media, technology, public sector, finance, and travel. Conducted between June 1 and September 3, 2018, Talend assessed responses to GDPR Article 15 (“Right of access by the data subject”) and Article 20 (“Right to data portability”) requests, monitoring areas including GDPR references in privacy policies, and the speed and completeness of responses. “GDPR requires insight into company data and its governance,” said Penny Jones, Research Director at 451 Research.  “Recent research, including that done by Talend and separate reports by 451 Research, has found that while many organizations understand the importance of GDPR, many are still not taking their data seriously in terms of the technologies and processes they have in place. As a result, many businesses are falling short of their GDPR obligations. They can lack the proper methods for storing, organizing or retrieving data in line with the regulation’s requirements.” “GDPR presents an opportunity to engage with customers and build loyalty. It’s vital for businesses in the digital era to have a 360-degree view of customers,” said Jean-Michel Franco, Senior Director of Data Governance Products at Talend. “Businesses must ensure that data is consolidated and stored in a transparent and shareable way. What’s more, GDPR’s one-month time limit should be viewed as an absolute deadline rather than a target. Our research shows that it is possible for some brands to respond within a day, suggesting that these brands understand fast response times will help boost customer trust.” Major findings from the research include: GDPR compliance is higher outside of Europe Just 35% of Europe-based companies polled provided data. This includes companies headquartered in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Italy. However, at 50%, the compliance rate was slightly higher for non-European companies, suggesting that businesses outside of Europe are taking a slightly more proactive approach to GDPR. Retail firms had lowest response rate A worrying 76% of retail companies polled failed to respond, while the best performing industry, Financial Services, still only managed a 50% success rate. When drilling down in the results, the research suggests that businesses that started out offline, and those that are hindered by legacy systems, may find GDPR compliance more challenging. Significantly different response times between industries The vast majority (65%) of GDPR compliant companies took more than ten days to respond and the overall average response time was 21 days. For some, however, the response was much quicker. Of those who responded within the time limit (22% of companies) – primarily streaming services, mobile banking, and technology businesses – replied within just one day, suggesting that digital service companies are more agile when it comes to GDPR compliance. More benchmark results will be shared by Franco during his presentation today at the Strata Data Conference in New York City. Approaches to help manage technologies and processes for GDPR are explained here.   About the Research Talend conducted market research to assess companies’ ability to comply with the new GDPR regulation. The research involved 103 GDPR-relevant companies across the globe (EU companies [70%] or companies based in NORAM [19%] or APAC [11%] that conduct business in Europe) from a range of industries (retail, media, technology, utilities & telecommunications, public sector, finance, and travel, transportation & hospitality. The analysis involved the following: Assessing whether companies had updated their privacy policies to account for GDPR Researching whether companies had dedicated ways for consumers to request GDPR data (i.e., the personal information the company has on them) Requesting GDPR data and assessing how quickly and thoroughly companies comply Requesting GDPR data in a way that may be directly accessed and reused by the individual (data portability)
