Royal Caribbean International has been delivering innovation at sea for more than 50 years. With Talend and a data lake in Microsoft Azure, the cruise company can now anticipate the slightest wish of their guests while meeting the stringent constraints imposed by the GDPR.
Royal Caribbean created the Digital Valet, which combines facial recognition technology, QR codes, digital beacons, and a smartphone app for passengers to expedite processing at security checkpoints. Royal Caribbean has also used its data lake to develop 3D Lab, which helps the company better understand the behavior of travelers onboard through anonymous and curated analysis of passenger flow. The 360° view of the customer also enables the crew to enhance the customer’s experience for the 40,000 to 50,000 passengers hosted daily by anticipating and preventing problems and providing them with predictive suggestions based on analytics.
