Day-in-the-Life of a Data Integration Developer: How to Build Your First Talend Job

In our last article, we helped you get familiar with the look and feel of the Talend Studio, as well as gain a general understanding of how to use some of its key functions and features.

Now that you have a grasp on the Studio, it’s time to build your first Talend Job!

In the example below, we will walk you through building your first data integration job using a movie rating data warehouse to capture the average rating of each movie by state. To do this, we will be joining two tables from our data warehouse, calculating the average rating by state using an aggregate component and then saving it to a separate table in our data warehouse.

The video will walk you through the connection of the moving rating data using the tMap component.

Following this step, the aggregator component is used to calculate the average rating by the state. Then, a target table is created with a tMysqlOutput component. Finally, the flow is documented with a title and your job is ready to run!
