I tried searching for the keyword talend in Google. Natural search results were expected, with Talend’s Web site occupying the first positions. More interesting were the sponsored links (Google’s “Adwords” - the ones that are shown on top on the colored background, and on the right-hand side of your screen).

Competitors (Oracle: 1st position, BO: 2nd position…) and partners such as JasperSoft, think they can attract qualified traffic by bidding on the talend keyword. And they probably do! In the case of partners, it’s for the best. In the case of competitors, I am not worried: they’ll come back to download Talend Open Studio after finding that Oracle’s and BO’s web site offer nothing of value: you’ve got to pay to just have a look at their software.
More interesting is the Jitterbit ad (bottom right): they offer a Talend Alternative. Well, that’s pretty cool to be the reference in open source data integration, to which other open source vendors are now measuring. I bet others will soon follow suit, measuring their success against ours. After all, when Xaware did their press launch a couple months back, they kept comparing their solution to ours - even though their solution touts a vastly different concept, but we were at that time the only real open source integration company.
It’s good to have become a reference in our space, in such a short time.
