Meeting with the press, talking to customers & partners, hiring… what else?…

Hello again…

I have lots of catching up to do so I figured I should blog MASSIVELY!
I may have remained a little secretive on some of the activities in the US: the OSA.

A few of you may still ask: “What is OSA?” so let me tell you
The Open Solutions Alliance consists of lea….” Sorry, for the definition, I’d rather refer you to its web site (OSA Website)… allow me to be factual:

* OSA is an acronym that stands for Open Solutions Alliance
* OSA regroups a few companies and organizations that want to play a role in the democratization of the use of Open Source in the enterprise
* OSA is NOT one of these alliances that you join “just to get your name out there”… In effect, as members, our commitment is real and is even part of the agreement each of us sign

It does take a fair amount of time, for some more than for others -btw, thanks to our commited board members!-, but the challenge is here:
OSA member or not, how can we, open source ISVs, Systems Integrators, VAR and community organization, lift the resistance for broad acceptance of open source based solutions in the enterprise?
It certainly isn’t a new question but what’s interesting to note is that rather than debating online or live, the OSA is clearly taking a pragmatic approach, working together, in a totally open, public manner, and trying to contribute to the open source community at large (See OSA Interoperability Roadmap).

Some of the outcome that we are already seeing may be motivating –since the word seems to spread out across the globe to some …unknown… countries (neteco.com OSA)- but what will, I hope, remain the most appealing to all are the facts, the real propositions, and technical standards that we are trying to define and promote (Common Customer View Prototype) in an attempt to remove any obstacle that may be on the way to Open Source’s complete success

The more contribution, the merrier so join the ride !

Vincent
Disclaimer: Don’t hold the OSA responsible for what I am saying here… it only represents my point of view which, I seem tounderstand, is what blogs are all about ;-)

Press & analysts tour, quite a busy week

Bertrand and I have been hitting the road for the past week or so, with one mission: spread the word among the distinguished members of the press and analyst communities about Talend, our solutions, and the value they bring to users. Our PR agencies in the US and Europe have set the pace, quite intense - we have done 21 briefings so far with many leading IT publications and analyst firms, and more are scheduled over the next few days!

Got to say it - we are thrilled by the feedback we get. All journalists and analysts we met with were extremely positive about our value proposition, our positioning and how we are going to revolutionize the data integration market. Several caught themselves thinking out loud: “it was about time an Open Source player comes and shatters this proprietary market”.

And since getting stuck in bad weather storms has become a Talend trademark, I’ll just mention that - yes, we were in Boston on Monday and Tuesday, when it got hit by a nasty Nor’easter that dumped several inches of rain, flooded houses and highways, disrupted traffic and ball games… but that did not prevent us from running from meeting to meeting, soaking wet that we were!

So what’s hap. with Talend US?

More than two weeks have already gone by since the official announcement of our US operations so it is about time I get use to blogging myself to let you know first hand about all the exciting news on this side of the Ocean!

Beyond the necessary administrative duties to launch Talend, Inc., I have been spending time trying to let the world know about the revolution in data integration. Some of our soon-to-be partners out there know me on a first name basis by now and you should expect lots of exciting news coming from us within the next few weeks.

But back to what is happening, Talend will be presenting at the MySQL user conference (http://www.mysqlconf.com) next week. We will also have a booth where you’ll be able to see a demo from… the master himself (Fabrice, our co-founder & COO, data integration expert, Talend’s initial architect and technical visionary)

A few weeks later, whether you missed us at Santa Clara or cannot get enough of Talend, you will be able to meet us at San Francisco’s Moscone conference center for JavaOne where you’ll hear more exciting news.

On the week of May 14th, we will be having our first public training in South Bay thanks to the partnership we signed with ASPE technology (www.aspetech.com) a nationwide leading training solutions provider.

As you see a pretty full agenda to celebrate Talend’s first month in the US - and it is only a start!

Meet the bald* guy (*litterally! I have no hair) on any of these events and let’s talk about how you can benefit from the data integration revolution!!!
