Talend Cited as a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave™: Strategic iPaaS and Hybrid Integration Platforms, Q1 2019
Forrester’s Wave report on Strategic iPaaS (integration platform as a service) and Hybrid Integration Platforms highlights how iPaaS is becoming increasingly important to organizations’ digital transformation initiatives. But what is the definition of an iPaaS?
The Definition of an iPaaS: Managing Data in Motion
Making data usable for analysis in 12 to 24 hours was just fine in 2010 — but for businesses in 2019, data needs to be available in less than 60 seconds. As a result, the need for iPaaS (integration platform as a service) options has continued to grow. Forrester defines iPaaS and hybrid integration platforms (HIPs) as platforms that enable companies to “manage data in motion in a faster landscape using software-as-a-service (SaaS)” and “improve the automation of IT and the business.”
Forrester notes that these platforms are increasingly seen as “strategic elements of digital transformation.” More and more enterprise architecture professionals see integration — and therefore an iPaaS — as a key element of their digital transformation agility.
Talend’s iPaaS: Multiple Integration Scenarios in a Single Environment
Forrester recognized that Talend’s integration platform as a service covers a wide variety of integration scenarios: data, application, B2B and IoT integration in both the cloud and on-premises in a single iPaaS environment. Forrester also pointed out that Talend’s “pricing model is a predictable by-the-user subscription model, while most iPaaS competitors use a consumption model (pinned to volume, connectors, and/or CPU usage).” Talend believes that its Data Fabric has the ability to scale to very high data volumes with native integration to the leading cloud platforms and databases.
