Talend V5 - a holistic integration approach to integration, combined under a unified product band

Talend Enterprise Data Integration

Talend Enterprise Data Integration is a subscription service that extends Talend Open Studio for Data Integration, with professional-grade technical support and additional enterprise-class features.

“Talend was definitely the right solution for us, especially in terms of a fast and simple conversion, the variety of connectors, and its performance when it comes to large data volumes. We can now manage the data volumes that such a big network brings by using the central data hub and the Talend Enterprise Data Integration. We also really like Talend's licensing policy: our company and data volume growth does not impact the licensing fees. That helps our budgets and provides us with planning reliability.”

Cyril Zenger, OSS/-BSS Engineer, ewz Telecom.

Enterprise-Grade Integration

It is designed to support multi-user development, and to scale to the highest levels of data volumes and process complexity. With its enterprise class features for event-based scheduling, error recovery management and real-time capabilities, Talend Enterprise Data Integration is ready for use in any production environment. Talend Enterprise Data Integration extends the core Talend Open Studio for Data Integration features to provide additional capabilities to massive scale and parallelize the execution of data integration jobs, through the intuitive, role based access of the Talend Administration Center. Operations staff can control and manage the operation of their environment from a central command-and-control center and make decisions in real-time based monitoring information that is constantly being refreshed from the Talend Runtime.

Scheduling and Managing Complex Deployments

Talend Enterprise Data Integration incorporates powerful capabilities for managing all data integration deployments from the simplest jobs to the most complex ones, from single jobs to thousands of jobs, and with data volumes ranging from a few records to terabytes of data through a central console, the Talend Administration Center. Based on Web 2.0, including Ajax technology, the Administration Center Web application offers friendly ergonomics and fast-refresh capability.

Teamwork and Consolidation of Development

Talend Integration Suite: Business Modeler

Talend Enterprise Data Integration's Shared Metadata Manager (or shared repository) is designed to consolidate all project information and enterprise metadata in a centralized repository shared by all stakeholders in the integration processes: business users, job developers, and IT operations staff. All can access the same, single version of the truth. This shared repository facilitates collaboration between team members by allowing them to store and share their business models, data integration jobs, metadata and all Talend items.

Having a shared repository promotes reusability of routines, objects and code, and encourages development best practices that can then be leveraged by all developers for building their data integration, data migration and data synchronization jobs.

Users, roles, permissions and privileges are managed centrally through the Web-based Administration Center, which supports LDAP-compliant systems, such as Active Directory.

Big Data and Cloud

Talend Enterprise Data Integration packages components that allow you to connect and load a Hadoop cluster and to run Hive, Pig and Sqoop scripts without knowledge of complex map reduce techniques.  The components abstract that complex language into simple graphic configuration and the code generator handles the complexity.  This simple approach will allow you to take advantage of these important technologies without having the expensive and rare resources that know these languages.

  • FileScale Technology: Talend Enterprise Data Integration features the unique FileScale technology, which leverages the execution server hardware architecture and maximizes the performance of low-level sort algorithms. It leverages MapReduce architecture to automatically break down any data processing operation into a number of granular processes.

  • Massively Parallel Processing: The challenges involved in processing large amounts of data are similar to those of any large-scale project. Typically, the best approach is to divide the task into as many subtasks as possible and distribute them over all available resources in order to process them in parallel. Talend Enterprise Data Integration maximizes enterprise server capabilities and the number of processors available, greatly improving processing time. It also automates the breakdown of data sets into many parallel streams, for further acceleration of processing, leveraging the massively parallel loaders of leading RDBMS engines.

  • Hadoop: Apache Hadoop is an open source Java software framework that supports data-intensive distributed applications.  It enables applications to work with thousands of nodes and petabytes of data. In addition to Hadoop support. Talend Enterprise Data Integration also offers support for Pig, Hive and Sqoop.

  • Cloud/SaaS Support: Talend Enterprise Data Integration provides connectors for all the well-known cloud applications, Saas offering and can be deployed in the cloud.  You can also extend the solution with Talend ESB so that RESTful service can provide increased reliable cloud connectivity.  You can accomplish all of this without the “data tax” that is often associated with per CPU licenses.

Industrialization

The architecture of enterprise processes is often complex and takes a long time to implement. Talend Enterprise Data Integration includes automation features to facilitate the development and implementation of these processes.

  • Automate Connections - Numerous wizards help automate connections to heterogeneous sources, including enterprise-scale platforms (SAP),  or versatile sources such as Copybook (EBCDIC), XML, Web services and more.

  • Talend Joblets - promotes the re-use of "common" processes and facilitates the industrialization of processes across different integration jobs.

  • Parallelization feature helps make the most of enterprise server capabilities and the number of processors available, greatly improving process execution time.

  • Talend Integration Suite: Industrialization
Advanced capabilities of impact analysis and data lineage help users know the path followed by data through the information system and the impact of a change on data structure or transformation processes.

  • Change Data Capture (Publish & Subscribe CDC), enable users to quickly identifies and captures data that has been added to, updated in, or removed from database tables and makes these changes (and only the changes) available to subscribers.

  • Additional business rule features let users incorporate JBoss Rules Governor (BRMS) for a centralized definition and administration of JBoss-compliant business rules.

  • Project Audit tool provides qualitative and quantitative metrics calculated against best practices that help optimize open source data integration, data migration and data synchronization projects.

Talend’s data integration solutions cover all data integration needs, for organizations of all sizes. The broad range of data integration needs addressed by the Talend solutions includes:

  • Operational data integration: in most organizations, operational data integration is addressed by implementing custom programs or routines, completed on-demand for a specific need. Data migration/loading and data synchronization/replication are the most common applications of operational data integration.

  • Data migration: when upgrading to a new version of a database or application, or when switching to a new system, data needs to be preserved in the new system. The purpose of data migration is to transfer existing data to the new environment. It needs to be transformed to a format suitable for the new system, while preserving the information present in the old. Learn more about how Talend's solutions address data migration.

  • Data synchronization: many cases exist in the information system where data is managed separately by multiple applications or databases, yet needs to be kept consistent between these systems. The need for data synchronization can either be permanent (synchronization between operational systems), or temporary, for example during a migration. Data synchronization includes all the processes that maintain data in sync between the applications and databases. Learn more about how Talend's solutions address data synchronization.

  • ETL for Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing: the ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) processes are the most critical - and value added - components of a Business Intelligence infrastructure. While mostly invisible to the user of the BI platform, ETL processes retrieve the data from all operational systems and pre-process it for the analysis and reporting tools. The accuracy and timeliness of the entire BI platform relies indeed on the ETL processes. Learn more about how Talend addresses ETL for BI and analytics.
