Pioneer in Open Source Data Integration Officially Launches in the U.S. to Meet Rising Demand for Talend Open Studio

PALO ALTO, Calif. - March 30, 2007 - Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, today announced the opening of a U.S. headquarters and several key executive hires to answer growing worldwide demand for Talend Open Studio, the company’s flagship open source data integration product. More than 50,000 users have downloaded Talend Open Studio to more cost-effectively and efficiently solve the data integration challenges faced by data-intensive organizations.

Talend Open Studio, available for download free of charge at www.talend.com, is a full-featured data integration product built on pure open source components and designed to meet the needs of organizations of all sizes. Talend Open Studio changes the economics of data integration by providing a more scalable, less-expensive open source alternative to the traditional, proprietary data integration suites. The open source approach chosen by Talend extensively leverages the community, expediting product enhancements that directly address user’s feedback and needs.

To support the growing customer and partner demand for Talend Open Studio, as well as to fuel additional corporate growth, Talend has made operational expansions and executive management team additions, including:

  • Official Launch of U.S. Operations: The company has opened its U.S. headquarters in PALO ALTO, Calif., and has appointed Vincent Pineau, general manager, western U.S. Pineau is a business intelligence and data management industry veteran, having held executive positions with MicroStrategy, a global leader in business intelligence, as well as Open Solution where he oversaw QA and ran strategic training.

  • Chief Financial Officer: Talend has bolstered its leadership team with the addition of Philippe Lobet as CFO.  Lobet has significant experience working with emerging growth companies, including most recently with Database Bank, helping lead them through early stage growth and operational rounds of funding.

  • Vice President of Worldwide Marketing: The company has appointed Yves de Montcheuil as vice president of worldwide marketing. Having held marketing positions at a number of fast-growing companies including Sunopsis (recently acquired by Oracle), Empirix and Cyrano, de Montcheuil will leverage his years of data integration market expertise to build strategic programs that highlight the continued success of Talend Open Studio in customer and partner deployments.
  • General Manager, Europe, Middle East & Africa: Talend has added François MĂ©ro, General Manager, EMEA to head business development and sales operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. MĂ©ro brings more than 15 years of experience in software sales and operations for European-based companies. He will help spearhead EMEA business development, sales and customer support efforts through strategic OEMs, resellers and direct customer relationships.

“When we launched the first version of Talend Open Studio in October of 2006, we quickly realized that the market was more than ready for such a product – it has been averaging 10,000 downloads per month so far,” said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend. “This rapid adoption underscores the technical and financial pain that thousands of users have felt in the absence of a truly open source data integration product—with most forced to use expensive proprietary data integration technologies or those unable to afford them forced to build their own tools or scripts in-house. The opening of our U.S. headquarters is driven by the tremendous demand we are seeing in the U.S. market, as well as our mission to work closely with our strategic partners.”
