Talend Unveils Upgraded Open Source Data Integration Solution with SAP Support

Talend Open Studio Version 3.0 Boasts Native Support for SAP Systems and Support for Advanced Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) Mode

LOS ALTOS, Calif. - October 21, 2008 - Talend today announced the availability of Talend Open Studio version 3.0, the company's flagship open source data integration solution. Talend Open Studio offers more than 400 native connectors and now includes SAP connectivity to make it possible to interface SAP systems with the rest of the information system. This connector enables data extraction from SAP for business intelligence projects, data migration to and from SAP, and data synchronization with other applications.

Talend Open Studio has been downloaded over 500,000 times since its release in late 2006. Along with enterprise-version Talend Integration Suite, it is a less expensive open source alternative to proprietary data integration solutions that require costly initial investment and rely heavily on IT resources for maintenance and upgrades.

“Talend Integration Suite has become our universal integration platform, addressing both our batch and real-time data integration needs,” said Pierre-Eric Menuet, integration project manager at Eurofins Scientific, one of the leading bioanalysis companies in the world. “Talend's solution combines the power of an enterprise integration solution with the benefits of open source, including openness of the product, deep involvement of the community and a very attractive price model.”

The upgraded software includes the following key features:

  • Native SAP support - allows the system to interface with SAP systems through extraction, migration and synchronization of SAP data.
  • Support of advanced Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) mode - allows the system to leverage the power of the database engine to perform heavy-duty data transformation. The new advanced ELT capabilities offer better native integration to high-performance databases and includes the support of advanced SQL patterns.
  • Support of Change Data Capture for new technologies - streamlines real-time data integration by detecting changed records in real time, allowing the changed data to be immediately sent to other applications and cutting the time needed to load and update data during the ELT process.
  • Dependencies analysis - checks the impact of changes. All changes to a database or application must be analyzed to understand the impact on the integration processes.

“The new release of our data integration product is a prime example of how quickly the Talend software continues to evolve. With added connectivity and support, this release makes data integration processes faster and easier to manage,” said Fabrice Bonan, co-founder and COO of Talend. “Customers need a flexible, high-performance product that will allow many different applications and systems to interoperate. Continually adding various connectors, including SAP, proves Talend's commitment to supporting all heterogeneous technologies in the information system to better benefit our customers.”

Talend today also announced the availability of the Data Quality option for Talend Integration Suite, a subscription-based service with technical support that extends the functionality of Talend Open Studio for collaboration and deployment in large enterprise settings. This data quality feature includes data profiling capabilities that enable users to understand the quality of the data and its improvement or degradation over time as well as data cleansing capabilities for correcting erroneous data.
