Talend Provides Data Integration Insurance to Easyssur

Talend Open Studio allows the online insurance broker to analyze its business in order to improve its predictions and decision-making

SURESNES, France - November 20, 2007 - Talend, the first provider of Open Source data integration solutions, has announced today that Easyssur, a pioneer of online insurance sales, has chosen Talend Open Studio to develop a Business Intelligence platform and to analyze its business by performing comparisons and predictions. The online insurance broker will also use Talend Open Studio to extract data from several applications and to provide them to partner insurance companies.

Easysur was looking for a reliable and economical way to perform data extractions. Because the company was using MS SQL Server databases, it first looked at what Microsoft had to offer. But a limited functional coverage, and a lack of ease of use, drove the online insurance broker to look at Open Source solutions. Easyssur selected Talend solutions because they were perfectly meeting its requirements.

"With frequent updates, an always increasing feature set, an active community and its marketing philosophy (partnerships with integrators and other Open Source solutions), we had the feeling that Talend was a mature solution. The ergonomics of the solution is also a key advantage. Beyond this, Talend offers real economical advantages: no license cost and quick results obtained after only a short training," explained Clément Chaumette.

Easysur uses Talend Open Studio to extract data from several applications – back office systems (ERP and CRM/Rate Calculator), Excel spreadsheets, Sage accounting software – in order to integrate and consolidate them in a Data Warehouse and to perform calculations, comparisons and predictions.

"We never could have created manually the thousands of lines of code that Talend Open Studio generates automatically," said Clément Chaumette. "This allowed us to spend more time on data than on ‘plumbing’ and saved us lots of valuable time. We have now a very strong foundation to integrate all of our company’s data."

Easyssur also uses Talend Open Studio for implementing MDM (Master Data Management) in order to control the quality and consistency of data between several applications: tracking of duplicates and anomalies with automated processes.
After close to a year of using Talend Open Studio, Easyssur is now looking at several directions for expanding its use. First, it is looking at increasing the number of information sources handled by Talend Open Studio, including integration of data from the call center. It is also studying the possibility to leverage it for recouping data from its incidents manager.
