Talend Announces Winners of Inaugural Talend Ambassador Awards

LOS ALTOS, Calif. - April 8, 2008 - Talend, the first provider of open source data integration software, today announced the winners of the inaugural Talend Ambassador Awards, given in recognition of innovative and effective business projects executed using Talend’s data integration technology. A major global automotive manufacturer and the Corporation of the City of Brantford in Ontario, Canada, have been selected as winners for their submissions for Talend-focused high performance projects demonstrating measurable operational gains.

A jury comprised of members of Talend’s technical and marketing divisions and senior management, designated winners in two categories, “Best Technical Use” and “Best Return on Investment/Best Business Gain.” The awards were open to all users of Talend Open Studio, Talend On Demand and Talend Integration Suite, regardless of their geographical location, industry and the goals of the project. The participants submitted a questionnaire in which they indicated the solution they were using and a description of the project, emphasizing what makes the project’s use of the solution unique and the gains they have experienced.

In the “Best Technical Use” category, the Corporation of the City of Brantford in Ontario, Canada won the award for their synchronization project between heterogeneous databases and an asset inventory application, making extensive use of Web services connectors. Finalists in this category were, Austrian University UMIT-biomed for their application of data integration for cancer research and Hungarian consulting firm Koolin, for their onAir Scheduler project, a scheduling solution for broadcasting companies.

In the “Best Return on Investment/Best Business Gain” category, a major global automotive manufacturer received the award for a marketing analytics project in which they use Talend's tools to integrate marketing campaign data from disparate source systems into a consolidated reporting environment. Finalists included bio analysis firm Eurofins, dual-headquartered in France and Germany, for their business data exchange infrastructure between laboratories, and Groupe CPI in France for their dashboarding project, based on Baan data.

“The Talend Award is a recognition of the work we are doing in the IT services department to provide better services to the citizens of the City of Brantford,” said Muzammil Rajpurkar, database administrator at the Corporation of the City of Brantford, in Ontario, Canada. “Talend's ability to connect seamlessly to heterogeneous sources and to synchronize data in real-time, help us tremendously in our integration tasks. I look forward to becoming more and more involved in the Talend community and to exchange with other members for the greatest benefit of all users of Talend's technologies.”

“Through these awards, Talend recognizes the tremendous level of expertise and interesting and effective projects being executed by the community,” said Yves de Montcheuil, vice president of marketing for Talend. “The number of submissions of impressive projects we reviewed, originating from all over the globe, is a testament that Talend’s open source date integration solutions continue to rival proprietary offerings in features and performance while helping to overcome the steep investment associated with those solutions. We will continue to have an open two-way dialogue with the winners, who, as Talend Ambassadors, will receive product roadmap consultations and be encouraged to share their feedback and best practices to the benefit of our user community”.
