Accent Group joins open source community with Talend Integration Suite

UK social housing association selects open source data integration software

MAIDENHEAD, UK - September 21, 2009 - Housing association Accent Group has selected Talend Integration Suite, an open source data integration solution to improve information management and efficiently migrate data from the association's legacy systems, as part of an on-going internal data integration project.

Accent Group has been investing in communities for more than 40 years and manages its homes and residents' services through its three subsidiaries, Accent Foundation, Accent Nene and Accent Peerless.

Andy Gowdy, MBCS CITP, Legacy System Manager at Accent Group commented: “Housing up to 50,000 residents, Accent Group has to deal with a high volume of personal data and application forms. Our three subsidiaries use a range of different platforms including IBM Iseries and Windows, which means that accessing and moving data can be extremely tedious. Adding to this, we also run several data warehouses and needed an open source data integration tool that would link these seamlessly.”

“Talend Integration Suite will provide Accent Group with one common tool for managing its variety of disparate systems such as its anti social management system, or its rent collection application. A major selling point for us was that it is open source, meaning that it can integrate with our IBM iSeries legacy systems and different platforms. It can also exact data from any file format and at a dramatically lower cost than proprietary software. There is a strong open source community that can help us to develop and improve our current applications and this support will be a real benefit for us,” added Andy.
Talend Integration Suite provides advanced capabilities that dramatically improve the productivity of data integration job design and proven scalability to ensure optimal execution.

François Méro, General Manager-EMEA, Talend commented: “Accent Group must comply with regulatory requirements outlined by the Tenant Services Authority and the National Register of Social Housing (NROSH), which is a system for collecting social housing data on individual properties.”

“With Talend Integration Suite, instead of taking up to a month to create complex reports in order to meet these regulatory requirements, Accent Group will be able to collate relevant data from all sources accurately in just one day. This will also have a significant effect on productivity and customer service, by providing staff with an easy-to-use open source data integration tool that can radically reducing the time usually taken to process applications,” concluded François.
