Five down, three to go.
For those of you who haven’t been reading the Talend blog lately, we’ve been working hard to higlight members of our team who contribute to open source.
Dan Kulp is this week’s Highlighted Community Member, and there’s a fantastic interview of him over on TalendForge. Dan currently manages the engineering efforts for our Application Integration products, and also manages to write a ton of code himself. He contributes to more Apache projects than I have the space to list here; he says his most fulfilling project, though, is Apache CXF.
I think my favorite quote from Dan’s interview is: “I’m not sure if participating in open source communities makes people better (brings out the best in people) or only the better people participate in open source.” I know how he feels, and I think it’s probably a little bit of both: open source attracts developers with unparalleled committment, and working on open source is the best way to build teamwork skills if you don’t already have them.
Dan maintains a blog, where he discusses his work with Apache. You can also follow his activity on Twitter (@dankulp). Stay tuned!
Welcome to part five in our series on Talend’s community coders! Today, we’re leaving Dublin and heading about 5,500km east (and a little bit south) to Washington DC, where we find our next Highlighted Community Member.
Glen Mazza comes to Talend after several years of contribution in the Apache CXF community, where he has become known for his ability to help users and create educational blog content. At Talend, Glen is a member of our Application Integration team and works on Talend Service Factory and Talend Integration Factory.
Glen posts regularly on his blog, and tweets frequently (@glenmazza). His interview in the Highlighted Community Member article on TalendForge is the most comprehensive of our series thus far, so head over there to take a look!
This is part four in our series about Talend team members who contribute to open source. So far, we’ve highlighted developers from France, Ireland, and Germany; today, we’ll continue that trend with another contributor who lives within striking distance of UTC+0.
Colm O Heigeartaigh joined the Talend team in 2010, and has been contributing to the Apache community for many years. He lives in Dublin, Ireland, and works on the Apache Santuario, WSS4J, and CXF projects, which form the foundation of Talend Service Factory and Talend ESB.
Security is a complicated subject, but Colm’s PhD in cryptography has prepared him to navigate its subtleties with ease. We’re proud to have him on our team, and equally proud to share his vast expertise with the open source community.
Colm posts regularly on his blog. To read more about him, in his own words, see the Highlighted Community Member article on TalendForge.
It’s that time again! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been highlighting Talend team members who make special contributions to the open source community.

This week on TalendForge, we’re highlighting another Talend open source contributor: Christian Schneider. Christian has been working on Apache projects since 2007, and is currently actively contributing to Apache CXF, Apache Camel, and Apache Karaf.
Christian lives in Forst, Germany with his wife and three year-old daughter. When he’s not coding, he maintains his focus by practicing Kung Fu.
In January, 2011, Christian joined Talend as an Open Source Architect for our Application Integration team, where he’s working on Talend Service Factory, Talend Integration Factory, and Talend ESB. You can read more about him on TalendForge, or follow him on his blog.
Next week, stay tuned for the last in our series of European open source contributors. After that, we’ll cross the Atlantic to talk about our colleagues in the US!
