Releasing a Report from The 451 Group

Through a partnership with analyst firm The 451 Group, we are now able to provide to Talend’s community members a report from their Commercial Adoption of Open Source series: A practical guide for calculating the financial benefits of open source.  This very complete document serves as a practical guide for understanding and calculating the financial benefits of open source. It includes a calculator tool for use in quantifying the financial benefits.

If you’re interested, you can download it here.

Kickfire, the first high-performance database appliance for MySQL

Kickfire officially launched this week, at the MySQL Conference & Expo.  They provide the first high-performance database appliance for MySQL.  By combining hardware and software innovations with the MySQL open source database, Kickfire brings to market a database appliance with unheard of performance, simplicity, and economics.

We are happy to welcome a new entrant to the MySQL community, especially one that can broaden the adoption of MySQL for high performance, high throughput BI applications.

We are also proud that Kickfire has chosen Talend to be one of their five strategic partners, to build their launch ecosystem.  Along with other partners such as JasperSoft or Zmanda, Talend contributes to offering from day one a complete solution to the market.

MySQL Conference & Expo in Santa Clara

photo4.jpgThis week is the MySQL Conference & Expo, held in Santa Clara, Calif. The first official “outing” of MySQL since the Sun acquisition, this turns out to be a very successful event: 2,000 attendees, several dozens partners exhibiting, hundreds of track sessions…

Talend has a booth there (of course) and so did several of our partners: SugarCRM, JasperSoft, the newly-launched Kickfire… We had some very good meetings, with existing Talend users, future Talend users, and of course many MySQL people.

Clearly this event has grown since last year, and MySQL is on a roll. So is Talend by the way: our name got mentioned in many track sessions, our brand is clearly recognizable, we multiplied by five the number of contacts we gathered… big difference from last year, when we were getting started in the US!

Oh, and this was also the first outing of Tux Droid, our new cyber friend that we will be raffling at the end of the show (more on this on this blog when we announce the winner).
